Dedication

In memory of Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, former chair of the Committee on Ethics of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Ethics Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Ryan brought ethics and ethical decision making to the forefront of the activities of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His influence then and his legacy for the future will serve to remind us all of the ethical obligations we must follow in the day-to-day dealings with our patients, our society, and ourselves.
